New Business Gateway For Caithness

30th April 2009

The local office of Highland Opportunity Limited (HOL) - Wick Enterprise Centre, based in Miller Street, Wick - is now delivering locally the business support services of the national Business Gateway.

From the beginning of April 2009, Business Gateway has been delivered by HOL throughout the Highland and Moray regions of Scotland. Business Gateway has operated in the south of Scotland for several years now and has been widely regarded as a successful driver of local enterprise.

The business support services of Business Gateway will integrate with HOL's existing business support services - providing business advice, training, access to finance for local small businesses who wish to start up and grow - eg, through the following:
~ The Opportunity Fund
~ Highland Business Growth Fund
~ Community Enterprise Loan Fund
~ Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust
~ Employment Grants Scheme

Business Start-Up Training workshops will be held in Wick and Thurso and will begin in June. Specialist business advisers will also be available through Business Gateway.
Existing businesses of scale and those with high growth potential will be identified and directed towards specialist account managers within Highlands & Islands Enterprise to help them fulfil their business strategies.
