An Interview with Pulteney Centre's New Chef.

Pulteney Centre will bring a new high quality and friendly restaurant/bistro to Wick which will be perfect for a hearty
breakfast, a quick snack at lunch time or a more substantial meal towards dinner.

Able to seat approximately 50 people, the restaurant/bistro will be open to everyone.

Local chef Donald "Dillan" Munro was recently appointed to run the kitchen and he has big plans for what the restaurant/bistro will provide. "I plan on serving lots of different meals which everyone should enjoy but also looking towards good home baking with some special meals each day such as pasta dishes,"

Dillan commented. "I'm aiming to use as much local produce as possible to really give it a fresh, Caithness taste.
"I'm currently working on the menu and adding in some extra dishes each day to keep what people can order
interesting."

Dillan has been a chef for 12 years and worked in Wick restaurants MacKays Hotel and the Portland Arms as well as working further afield in Ulbster Arms Hotel, Halkirk and Three Chimneys in Skye. He is looking forward to the possibilities working in Pulteney Centre's restaurant/bistro will bring and is sure people will enjoy the food.

"With freshly home cooked meals and good, friendly service from staff I hope people will see the value they
are getting and keep coming back."

The restaurant/bistro, situated on the ground floor, will be ideal for families as well due to the nearby children's soft play which has a viewing window where parents can keep a close eye on their children as they play with friends and childcare staff.

The new Pulteney Centre in Wick opens on 23 January 2012.

A number of groups in Caithness were on a long list of Scottish awards from the lottery. Caithness KLICS (SCIO) Medium Grants Scotland: Improving Lives £76,763 Highland The group will use the funding to offer a range of activities for young carers, including weekly group sessions and after school sessions to reduce stress and provide respite bringing some normality into their lives.

Employability Fund Programme - Work Placement Scheme

Pulteneytown People's Project is contracted to deliver The Employability Fund Programme for Skills Development Scotland (SDS). The purpose of the programme is to prepare people for employment or further training opportunities in their chosen work interest area, by supporting them to improve their knowledge and basic skills required for their chosen sector. The programme focuses on work-based knowledge, skills and experience to be gained both within our training centre and on work placements, with any relevant training needs being addressed as per each participant’s individual training plan.

Boost for Pultneytown Advice Centre

At today�s Caithness and Sutherland Area Committee members awarded Pulteneytown People�s project �90,506 from the Deprived Area Fund which will be used to provide services to local people through the Advice Centre. This will be used to support the work of the one-stop shop to provide local people help and advice with benefits, staying on at school, re-training, housing issues and applying for jobs.

The new Caithness District Partnership will meet in full for the second time on Friday 28 September, as part of the new arrangements under the Planning for Integration (P4i) partnership between the NHS and The Highland Council. Pulteney Centre will be a "one-stop-shop" for the community's needs, offering a unique package of social groups, training and facility hiring opportunities all within the same building. The large function room will be available to hire for a variety of different purposes such as: * Birthday parties * Small wedding parties * Children's themed parties with full use of the soft play area and other fun activities such as face painting * Business meetings and community meetings The multi-purpose hall will also be available for hire for a wide use of needs, including: * Use as a sports hall for games of five-a-side football, badminton and lots of other sports * A venue for conferences or large meetings * Perfect for community events or special occasions * All with full use of the changing rooms, showers and other facilities As well as all this Pulteney Centre will be offering: * A band practice room * Youth drop-in * Restaurant/bistro offering good quality food and refreshments for families * Cinema facilities * And lots of classes and groups you can find out about in this newsletter Pulteney Centre will open up a range of possibilities for people and businesses in the local community and the wider area.

Youth Activities in Pulteney Centre There will be lots of fun and exciting activities for local youths to take part in when Pulteney Centre opens to the public on January 23. MONDAYS For Music To start the week off there will be a Monday night music and drama group running from 7.30pm - 10pm.

New Classes at the Pulteney Centre, Wick

Pulteneytown People's Project in Wick will be opening the doors to its new community Centre, Pulteney Centre, at the end of January and promises to bring a huge variety of new classes to the town. Pulteney Centre will be the first of its kind in Wick, offering a comprehensive collection of groups and educational classes all housed under the one roof.

HIE Board Checks Out Wick's New Community Centre

As the final stages of work take place on the �3.8 million community centre for Wick, Highlands and Islands Enterprise's most senior staff have enjoyed a sneak preview. As part of a two day programme of meetings with ambitious Caithness and Sutherland businesses and social enterprises, the HIE Board visited the Pulteney Centre due to open in the new year and paid tribute to the achievements of the Pulteneytown People's Project (PPP).
