Highlands & Islands businesses noted in Queens Awards.
Highland and Islands Labour MSP David Stewart has congratulated the Highlands and Islands businesses who have been given the Queens Award designed to recognise outstanding business practice.
Mr Stewart lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating Highland based businesses who have been recognised by this years Queens Awards/
Gordon & MacPhail from Elgin, producer of Benromach whisky , KP Technology of Wick which manufacture and sell Kelvin Probes used to measure Electronic Work Function and Surface Potential and also Dingwall based Keltic Seafare who produce and export premium Shellfish have all received awards in the international trade category.
Mr Stewart Commented:I am delighted to see the progress being made across the Highlands by businesses in the international trade market.
The Queens Awards are recognised internationally as a mark of excellent quality and will be very beneficial to the business who have received this prestigious recognition.
This shows that business is able to success across all parts of the Highlands, despite the poor economy here at home and across the wider economy.
A total of 13 businesses from around Scotland were among 152 UK winners 116 for International Trade, 27 for innovation and nine for sustainable development.

That the parliament congratulates business across Scotland and in particular those in the Highlands and Islands who have scooped the Queens Awards for outstanding achievement; notes that Benromach producer Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin have been granted a second award for enterprise and international trade, KP Technology Ltd of Wick which manufactures and sells Kelvin Probes used to measure Electronic Work Function and Surface Potential and Dingwall based firm Keltic Seafare (Scotland) Ltd which supplies premium quality shellfish have also received an award; notes the firms have significantly increased their export sales over the past few years and are international success storys that are bucking the economic trend across Scotland and the U.K.
