Success for Highlands and Islands food and drink businesses

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) congratulates the region's businesses which scooped three food 'Oscars' at the 2013 Scotland Food and Drink Awards on Thursday night - 30th june 2013.
Three ambitious companies from the Highlands and Islands have been recognised in the 2013 Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards.
The Soup, Preserves and Accompaniments award sponsored by Asda went to Isle of Lewis based Hebridean Sea Salt Ltd for its product which is hand harvested using Hebridean sea water.
The prize for the Alcoholic and Non-alcoholic Drink category was won by The Orkney Brewery for its deluxe beer, Dark Island Reserve.
First place in the Dairy category went toTaste of Arran for its Arran�s Cheese Shop Mustard Cheddar.

The writer, broadcaster and all-round foodie, Hardeep Singh Kohli, hosted the event at the glamorous Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh. Dubbed the Scottish food and drink �Oscars�, the ceremony was bigger than ever before with 400 guests attending the awards. Attendees were treated to a champagne reception and sumptuous dinner, showcasing the very best of Scotland�s larder.

Deputy First Minister, Kate Forbes, has officially opened Aurora's pioneering Renewable Energy Training Centre in Inverness - the only facility of its kind serving the Highlands. The £1.2m training centre has already demonstrated its importance to Scotland's net-zero ambitions, training to more than 1,000 people in its first year and gearing up to train more than 2,000 workers annually who will be central to the country's renewable energy future.
A multi-million pound investment is being made in one of Scotland's most strategically important ports.
