The University of the Highlands and Islands Management School will be broadcasting a free seminar from the island of Unst in Shetland on Tuesday 1 July. Key account director, Gary I Campbell, will interview Sonny Priest, the founder of Valhalla Brewery, Scotland's most northerly brewery.
The discussion will welcome both a face to face audience on the island as well as participants from other locations across the university partnership or remotely through desktop computer, tablet or mobile device.
"This is the first time we'll be delivering a business seminar from one of our learning centres," said Gary I Campbell. "We are delighted that Shetland College UHI is hosting this event. I'll be talking to Sonny about the challenges and successes he has encountered in setting up and running his remote business. We look forward to welcoming an audience both face to face with us in Unst and by video-conference globally."
Discussion will include business set up, sourcing staff, materials and market demand as well as diversification into an international market.
"I am delighted and honoured to be a part of the first management school seminar to be held outside of Inverness," added Valhalla Brewery founder, Sonny Priest. "This complements the work which I have already done through the Agronomy Institute at Orkney College UHI and I look forward to the challenge."
The Valhalla Brewery opened in December 1997. Concentrating on the local Shetland market initially, it has since broadened its customer base across the UK, installing a bottling plant in 1999.
