Scotland’s space sector follow-up: launch -

the Scottish Affairs Committee’s report, "Scotland’s space sector follow-up: launch" (Third Report of Session 2024–25, HC 671), which was published on 10 September 2025.   Scotland is emerging as critical to the UK’s space ambitions, hosting five of the seven developing UK spaceports (e.g., SaxaVord Spaceport in Shetland), positioning it well to offer end-to-end space services—from satellite manufacturing to launch and data usage.

The International Fund for Ukraine has delivered thousands of drones, missiles, and radars for Ukraine.   More than £2 billion of military support for Ukraine has now been secured through the UK-led international fund for priority military equipment to support the most urgent requirements of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

Drinking Water in Scotland 2024

Water Quality Regulator says “Scotland’s tap water quality is impressive, but more needs to be done to reduce risk”.   The Drinking Water Quality Regulator (DWQR) for Scotland’s latest annual report shows that Scottish Water’s compliance with the stringent standards for drinking water remains very high, however there are too many avoidable incidents.

Recognising unpaid carers - New payment for people caring for more than one person

Proposals to further expand and improve the benefits available to unpaid carers in Scotland have been laid before the Scottish Parliament.   Among the changes are plans to introduce a new payment worth up to £520 annually for people who care for more than one person – benefiting an estimated 18,000 carers – and to extend eligibility for the Young Carer Grant to 19-year-olds.
