£500,000 Emergency Funding For Türkiye And Syria From Scottish Government

£500,000 in emergency funding is to be given to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) to support the humanitarian aid efforts following the severe earthquake in Türkiye and Syria.   Regions of southern and central Türkiye and western Syria were hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the early morning of Monday 6th February.

HM Treasury And Bank Of England Consider Plans For A Digital Pound

A digital pound is likely to be needed in the future according to a consultation paper published today by HM Treasury and the Bank of England.   the Treasury and the Bank of England are consulting on a potential digital pound, or central bank digital currency (CBDC) a digital pound would be issued by the Bank of England and could be used by households and businesses for everyday payments in-store and online.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (February, 8th) sold 562 store cattle, 35 adult head of breeding cattle and 82 OTM cattle.   Bullocks (271) averaged 289.0p and sold to 347.2p per kg for a 360kg Limousin from Clury Farm, Dulnain Bridge and £1,720 gross for a 619kg Simmental cross from Borlum, Scaniport.

Warning On Cestui Que Vie Trust Car Insurance Scams

Fraudsters are offering false ‘common law' car insurance and claiming that the insurance is backed by the holder's ‘cestui que vie trust'.   We’re aware of fraudsters claiming to sell car insurance and advising users to claim the funds from a personal trust held by the government.

Following the conclusion of the 16 days of action, a special meeting of the national Executive Committee was held late yesterday afternoon.   In light of the fact that no new offer has been made or looks likely to be made any time soon, that 'negotiations' are not being approached as real negotiations by the Scottish Government and COSLA.

In total, 70,000 UCU members are involved at Colleges and Universities.   The full dates of strike action are: Week 1 - Wednesday 1 February Week 2 - Thursday 9 and Friday 10 February Week 3 - Tuesday 14, Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 February Week 4 - Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 February Week 5 - Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 February and Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 March [No action week commencing Monday 6 March] Ths is the biggest series of strikes ever to hit UK university campuses.
