DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (February, 8th) sold 562 store cattle, 35 adult head of breeding cattle and 82 OTM cattle.

Bullocks (271) averaged 289.0p and sold to 347.2p per kg for a 360kg Limousin from Clury Farm, Dulnain Bridge and £1,720 gross for a 619kg Simmental cross from Borlum, Scaniport.

Heifers (279) averaged 263.6p and sold to 312.5p per kg for a 480kg Limousin cross from 3 Glaick, Ardross and £1,780 gross for a 665kg Saler cross from Kindeace, Alness.

Young Bulls (12) sold to 286.4p per kg for a 220kg Charolais cross from Corriebheinn Farms, Achachork and £1,080 gross for a 585kg Luing from Welbeck Farms.

Breeding Bulls (3) sold to £1,320 gross for a Limousin from Eynort, Carbost.

In calf cows (23) sold to £1,600 gross for a Aberdeen Angus cross from Bogburn Farm, Duncanston.

In calf heifers (1) sold to £1,650 gross for a Simmental cross from Bogburn Farm, Duncanston.

Cow with calf at foot (8) sold to £1,900 for a Hereford cow with a male calf at foot from Lower Farley Farm, Kilmorack.

"Another sensational trade greeted the Dingwall vendors today as trade surpassed that witnessed a fortnight ago recording record averages in the process. Another full ringside were out in force and yet again some intending purchasers ventured home empty handed."

“For the second sale running the Tore Mains contingent smashed the top OTM price in the castle. Venturing over the Leanaig was an outstanding 960kg Charolais cow, which after a ferocious frenzy of bidding was knocked out at £2,640. Overall a truly outstanding trade was had and despite another large influx of hill-bred lean cows a phenomenal average of 201p per kg was recorded.”
