Information following the death of Her Majesty The Queen

To mark the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's State Funeral, Monday 19 September 2022 will be a national Bank Holiday.   This will allow individuals, businesses and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.

Highland Council Observes Period Of National Mourning

Following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, The Highland Council is observing the period of national mourning which has now commenced and will last until the end of the day of the State Funeral.   The Council is following national protocols which are approved by both the UK and Scottish Governments.

Buckingham Palace Confirms Death Of The Queen At Balmoral Castle

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the death of Her Majesty The Queen at the age of 96.   In a statement at 6.30pm today, Buckingham Palace announced that Her Majesty had died peacefully at Balmoral Castle, in Aberdeenshire, this afternoon.

Who and when? - Cost of Living Payments

Two payments totalling £650 are being made to more than eight million low-income households who receive the following benefits: Universal Credit income-based Jobseekers Allowance income-related Employment and Support Allowance Income Support working tax credit child tax credit pension credit The first instalment of £326 was paid to about seven million of these people between 14 and 31 July.  The payments were made automatically into bank accounts - usually marked "DWP Cost of Living".

Heating Oil Users Will Get Something But Not Worked Out Yet

The prime minister said a fund will be created to support those who are not covered by a cap, but she did not say how big that fund would be.   This includes people who use heating oil in their homes, those who have communal heating schemes, and people in mobile home parks who pay the park owner rather than a supplier.

CWU members are taking strike action on 8, 9, 30 September and 1 October 2022.   CWU general secretary Dave Ward said: "There can be no doubt that postal workers are completely united in their determination to secure the dignified, proper pay rise they deserve.

Government Announces Energy Price Guarantee For Families And Businesses While Urgently Taking Action To Reform Broken Energy Market

Prime Minister Liz Truss sets out decisive action to support people and businesses with their energy bills.   Energy Price Guarantee From 1st October, a new ‘Energy Price Guarantee' will mean a typical UK household will now pay up to an average £2,500 a year on their energy bill for the next two years.

Hm Treasury And Bank Of England To Launch The Energy Markets Financing Scheme (EMFS)

HM Treasury, working with the Bank of England, will launch the Energy Markets Financing Scheme (EMFS).   HM Treasury are today announcing a joint scheme, working with the Bank of England, to address the extraordinary liquidity requirements faced by energy firms operating in UK wholesale gas and/or electricity markets.

Investments during the year supported businesses and social enterprises to create 1,327 full time equivalent jobs across the region and retain a further 160.  Of the total jobs supported, 138 were in fragile areas and 82 were green jobs.

14 Businesses To Fast Track With Accelerator Programme

Developed by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and delivered mostly online, the programme will provide fast-track training and mentoring for entrepreneurs looking to build a company or launch a new product.   This is the eleventh group to start on the four-month programme since it began in 2018.  A launch day was held on Thursday 1 September at An Lòchran, Inverness Campus for all businesses taking part.

Minimum Retirement Age To Increase From 55 To 57 In 2028

With people living longer and spending more of their life in retirement than before, it may not come as a surprise that there are planned increases to the age pension scheme members can first access their state and private pension.  From 6 April 2028 the age most people can access their pensions without incurring tax penalties, (excluding ill-health retirement) will increase from 55 to 57.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (September 6 th ) sold 16 Prime Cattle.   Prime Bullocks (3) averaged 245.9p per kg (-1.5p) and sold to 251.0p per kg for a 600kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall and £1,617.00 gross for a 660kg Limousin cross also from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.
