HMCTS Telephone Numbers Used By Tax Scammers

Scammers using HM Courts & Tribunals Service telephone numbers to demand tax payments.   An increasing number of concerned individuals are contacting offices across HMCTS following emails or phone calls by scammers.

Islands Growth Deal Worth £335 Million Signed

UK Government joins partners to sign Heads of Terms agreement for Scotland's three island areas.   On Wednesday 17 March 2021, UK Government Minister for Scotland Iain Stewart joined the Scottish Government's Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Michael Matheson, and leaders of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Orkney Islands Council, and Shetland Islands Council to sign the Heads of Terms for the Islands Growth Deal.

Aberdeenshire To Drive Forward Green Industrial Revolution

A new project to provide safe carbon storage capacity in the North Sea, off Aberdeenshire, will benefit from £31 million of UK Government funding.   £31 million UK Government funding for world-class, safe carbon storage in rock deep below the North Sea.

£450 Million Borderlands Growth Deal Now Underway

UK Government joins partners to sign-off on huge deal that spans Northern England and Southern Scotland.   The Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal was formally signed today, 18 March 2021, bringing up to £452 million of fresh investment to the Borderlands area.

Bank Rate Maintained At 0.1% - March 2021

At its meeting ending on 17 March 2021, the Committee judged that the existing stance of monetary policy remains appropriate.  The MPC voted unanimously to maintain Bank Rate at 0.1%.

Bechtel And Hexicon To Demonstrate Floating Wind Technology - Could The Dounreay Tri Project Happen?

Bechtel is partnering with windfarm developer Hexicon to demonstrate offshore wind technology that could be a ‘game-changer' as it can be deployed in deep waters at a lower cost of energy than other solutions.  The industry currently relies on shallow water platforms that are fixed to the seabed.

UK Agrees Fishing Catch Limits With EU And Norway

The UK, Norway and the European Union have today signed a trilateral agreement on catch limits in 2021.   The UK has (16 March 2021) reached agreement with Norway and the European Union on catch limits in 2021 for six jointly-managed fish stocks in the North Sea.

Landmark For Children's Rights In Scotland

Scotland is to become the first devolved nation in the world to directly incorporate the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into domestic law.   MSPs voted unanimously for the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill to become law, meaning public authorities will have to comply with children's rights.
