Energy Minister Marks Completion Of Caithness-Moray Transmission Link

The Scottish Government's Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands, Paul Wheelhouse MSP, marked the official completion of SSEN Transmission’s flagship Caithness-Moray HVDC link with a visit to Blackhillock substation in Moray.   The £1bn transmission link, delivered on time and within regulatory allowances, has unlocked the vast renewables potential of the north of Scotland.

Achievement Of Curriculum For Excellence (cfe) Levels

Scotland's Chief Statistician has today published statistics on school pupils' achievement of Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) Levels in reading, writing, listening & talking and numeracy.  The statistics, based on teacher judgement, report on the percentage of school pupils in Primary 1 (P1), Primary 4 (P4), Primary 7 (P7) and Secondary 3 (S3) who have achieved the expected CfE level relevant to their stage.

Heavy Rain Causes Landslips - Kylerhea, Isle of Skye and Raasay

Two roads are closed on Isle of Skye and Raasay due to landslips.   The C1239 Lusa - Kylerhea Road is closed at around 3.7km from the Invergarry - Uig trunk road (A87) due to a landslip from the hill above which has covered the road with mud for around 100 - 120m.

Primary Teacher Numbers Rise In Scotland

Primary school teacher numbers are at their highest level since 1980 and total teacher numbers have risen by 288, new statistics have shown.   The overall number of teachers rose to 52,247, an increase of 1,530 since 2015 and the highest level since 2009.

Scottish Government should enforce the Scottish Living Wage in charity care sector, says UNISON

UNISON is calling on the Scottish government to step in to enforce payment of the Scottish Living Wage to all staff working for Richmond Fellowship Scotland - one of the largest providers of social care services across Scotland.   UNISON has successfully campaigned to get the Scottish Living Wage (SLW) paid to all adult social care workers across Scotland.
