UK Outstrips Other Eu Nations As Top Investment Destination In Europe

Latest OECD data shows rising investment in UK amid an uncertain economic global outlook.   Data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) published today shows the total value of foreign investment stock into the UK by the end of 2018 increased by 5% to $1,890 billion.

Building A Fairer Housing Market - Support For Struggling First-time Buyers

Ensuring the housing market is fairer and delivers more people the homes they want is at the heart of a package announced by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon today.   She revealed that starting later this year the Scottish Government will create a £150 million national pilot scheme to provide support for first-time buyers with the deposit they need when they want to buy a home.

Public convenience partnership with Portland Hotel provides Comfort Scheme addition on NC500

In a boost for the local Caithness area a new Comfort Scheme has started with immediate effect at The Portland Hotel in Lybster in partnership with The Highland Council.   Recently renovated and launched under new ownership in summer of 2018 The Portland Hotel, Lybster is ideally situated on A99 Wick to Latheron main road, which forms part of the busy NC500 tourist route.

Supply chain to play key role in decommissioning projects at Dounreay

Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) has opened the door to dozens of companies to play an active role in supporting the delivery of Scotland's largest decommissioning project.   Construction of a size reduction facility, shaft and silo decommissioning and demolition of historic active laboratories are just some of the major projects expected to be delivered as part of a decommissioning services framework, potentially worth up to £400 million, which was announced on Tuesday 23rd April 2019.

Attracting visitors to the Firth of Forth

A plan to boost visitor numbers to the three bridges which span the Firth of Forth has been launched this week by Tourism Secretary Fiona Hyslop.   The ten-year strategy highlights a number of opportunities to promote the Forth Rail Bridge, the Forth Road Bridge and the Queensferry Crossing - each one a world record holder in its own right - and to attract people to the area for a world-class visitor experience.

Decrease In Derelict And Urban Vacant Land

Scotland's Chief Statistician has today released the latest annual statistics on the extent of vacant and derelict land in Scotland.   Data from the 2018 Scottish Vacant and Derelict Land Survey gives the following results: The total amount of derelict and urban vacant land in Scotland has decreased by 716 hectares (6%) in the latest year, from 11,753 hectares in 2017 to 11,037 hectares in 2018.

UK Businesses Contributed Nearly £200 Billion In Tax For 2018/19

New CBI analysis of data published by the Office for National Statistics today (Wednesday 24th April 2019) has found that businesses paid £196 billion in taxes in 2018/19, up from £188 billion last year.  The total business tax contribution amounts to 27% of all tax revenue.
