Dingwall and Highlands Marts Ltd Sale - 28 September 2023

DINGWALL., Dingwall and Highlands Marts Ltd (September 28th) sold 4,699 N.C cheviot ewes and gimmers and all classes of store sheep.   Cheviot correct ewes (2,374) sold to £122 gross for a pen of Cheviot Ewes from Rhinamain, Bonar Bridge.

Off-peak All Day - Cheaper And Simpler Rail Fares From 2 October

The Scottish Government-funded project, encouraging people to travel by rail instead of car, will allow customers to travel all day on off-peak fares until the end of March 2024.   There are some routes where no off-peak fare exists because the same price is available at any time of the day, and as such, customers will not see any change in those areas.

RAF Fighter Jets Deploy To Poland For Joint Exercises Ahead Of Warsaw Security Forum

Four RAF Typhoon jets have been deployed to Poland, to conduct exercises with aircraft from Spain, Poland, and Italy.   Four Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets have deployed to Poland to conduct joint training exercises alongside allied aircraft from Poland, Spain, and Italy.

Business Investment In The UK - April To June 2023

UK Business investment increased by 4.1% in Quarter 2 (Apr to June) 2023, revised up from the provisional estimate of 3.4% growth.   Business investment has grown by 9.2% compared with the same quarter a year ago.

House Price Growth Remained Weak In September

Commenting on the figures, Robert Gardner, Nationwide's Chief Economist, said, "Annual house price growth was unchanged at -5.3% in September.  Prices were also flat over the month, after taking account of seasonal effects, following the 0.8% decline seen in August.

National Living Wage Expected To Rise But Benefit Sanctions To Be Increased

First Class Stamps Rise To £1.25 From Today From £1.10

Royal Mail has announced that from Monday 2 October 2023, a price increase to some postal services.   First class stamps will increase by 15 pence from £1.10 to £1.25 Its most basic service, second class stamps will remain at the same price of 75 pence The price increase will also affect both first and second class large letters.

DINGWALL., Dingwall and Highlands Marts Ltd (September 29th) sold 5,489 Store lambs & feeding sheep.   Lambs (5,431) averaged £62.28 and sold to £117 gross for a pen of Charolais crosses from Wester Ardroy, Balchraggan Ewes and feeding sheep (58) sold to £136 gross for a Texel cross ewe from Ivy Cottage, Thurso.
