Minister Hails World-class Exporters As New Data Shows Uk Businesses Reach Record Highs

Revised figures from the Office for National Statistics indicates that the UK's total exports in 2022 were worth £834 billion, up from £815 billion.   Exports Minister Malcolm Offord has praised the UK's ‘world-class' exporters as new data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) released today (29 September) shows UK exports performed even better than previously thought.

Highland Council - Tain & Easter Ross By-election Result - Independent Win

The by-election to elect a councillor to represent Ward 7 - Tain and Easter Ross on The Highland Council has been won by Maureen Ross (Independent) who was one of seven candidates who contested the vacancy.   One of three seats in the Tain and Easter Ross ward became vacant on the resignation of Sarah Rawlings (Scottish Libertal Democrat).

Thousands Of Veteran Cards To Be Rolled Out This Year

Thousands more veterans will receive HM Armed Forces Veteran Cards by the end of the year thanks to a £3 million injection to expand the roll-out to veterans who left service before 2018.   Veterans' Minister Johnny Mercer has visited a MOD printing facility at HMS Sultan in Gosport.

Innovative projects will receive funding to develop technologies to predict strawberry yield, increase vineyard productivity and optimise harvesting schedules.   Nineteen innovative projects developing automation and robotic technologies will receive a share of £12.5 million in government funding to boost productivity, food security and sustainable farming practices, the Farming Minister Mark Spencer has announced today (28 September).

How The Bank Of England's Interest Rate Hikes Are Filtering Through To Your Finances

The Bank of England has increased interest rates to 5.25%, a level not seen since April 2008 and markedly higher than the all-time lows of 0.1% seen less than two years ago.   In fact, interest rates hovered between 0.1% and 0.75% for the 13 years to May 2022.
