Scottish Monthly GDP Estimates For August

Scotland's onshore GDP grew by 0.1% in August, according to statistics announced today by the Chief Statistician.  This follows unrevised growth of 0.2% in July and a fall of 0.1% in June.

Motorists will benefit this festive season with the introduction of a time limited free parking offer on Saturdays only at Inverness Rose Street multi storey car park.   Parking will be free for up to 4 hours at Rose Street multi storey car park on the following Saturdays: Saturday 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th November 2023; and Saturday 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd December 2023.

First All-electric Munro Series-m 4x4 Leaves Production Line With A £68m Customer Pipeline Confirmed

Munro Vehicles (Munro), a manufacturer of all-electric 4x4s, and Scotland's only volume car company, has today announced the completion of its first pre-production model.  The white Series-M Utility, a hard top five-seater 4x4, leaves the factory in East Kilbride just ten months after Munro unveiled the MK_1 prototype model in Edinburgh in December 2022.

Britain Has A ‘Bulging Middle' When It Comes To Pay

Britain's earnings distribution is bulging in the middle, as the share of both low- and high-paid employees continues to decline, the Resolution Foundation said on Wednesday in response to the ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE).   The latest ASHE data - the most authoritative statistics on what is happening to pay packets across Britain – showed median employee weekly earnings grew sharply in the year to April 2023, by 7.7 per cent.

Humanitarian Aid For Gaza

First Minister Humza Yousaf has pledged a further £250,000 to support displaced people in Gaza access food, water, shelter and medical supplies.   The additional money takes the total given to assist relief efforts in Gaza via the United Nations Relief and Works Agency's Flash Appeal (UNRWA) to £750,000.

UK Monthly Property Transactions Commentary By National Statistics

Non-seasonally adjusted residential transactions are down by 2% relative to August 2023, whilst there has been a 7% increase in non-seasonally adjusted non-residential transactions.  Seasonally adjusted residential transactions have fallen by 1% in September, which constitutes the first month-on-month decrease since May 2023.

Help to Save customers receive £146 million in bonus payments

Help to Save customers have received £146 million in bonus payments since the scheme launched in September 2018 and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is urging individuals in Scotland to take advantage of the generous savings scheme this World Savings Day (31 October).   Help to Save is the UK Government savings scheme for low-income earners and offers savers a 50% bonus payment worth up to £1,200 over a maximum of 4 years.

Sales Of Veterinary Antibiotics In The UK Reach Lowest Ever Level

Sales of antibiotics for use in food-producing animals fell by 9% last year and have reduced by 59% since 2014.   Sales of veterinary antibiotics in the UK are at the lowest level ever recorded, in a report published by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) today (1 November).
