Highlands and Islands Businesses Urged To Apply For £23 Million Fund

Highlands and Islands businesses are being encouraged to apply to a £23 million fund supported by the Technology Strategy Board and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).

The DALLAS (Delivering Assisted Living Lifestyles at Scale) Fund aims to establish up to five communities across the UK to explore how technologies and services can be used to promote health and wellbeing, enabling people to live independently regardless of their location.

HIE is supporting applicants with the competition process and has contributed £800,000 towards the fund.

Businesses and organisations in the Highlands and Islands have been working on developing user oriented technologies and systems which will equip healthcare providers with a means of delivering services affordably and effectively from a distance.

This will allow patients to live comfortable and independent lives, regardless of where they live.

Applicants were briefed on what to expect at a recent meeting at the Centre for Health Science in Inverness.

The briefing session at the Centre for Health Science was held by Graham Worsley of the Technology Strategy Board and HIE. Attendees included Highland businesses in the life sciences, creative industries and IT sectors as well as health service providers and academia.

The closing date for entries is July 27, however, applicants must register their interest by July 20.
