DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (October, 25th) sold 535 rams at its annual show and sale of North County Hill Cheviots.
The overall champion was a four shear from Messrs Keoldale Sheep Stock Club, realising £400 to Mr A. J. Ross, Sand Street, Stornoway. The reserve champion award went to a shearling from Mr W. M. Sutherland, Brackside, Reay, realising £800 to Messrs Naddle Farm, Bampton, Cumbria.
Shearlings (80) sold to £1300 gross from Taldale, Forss.
Two shears (348) sold to £1,800 gross from Knockan, Ullapool.
Three shears (72) sold to £1,000 gross from Torrish Estate, Helmsdale.
Four shears (20) sold to £850 gross from Armadale Farm, Armadale.
Five shears (6) sold to £2,500 gross from Hethpool, Wooler.
Ram lambs (5) sold to £220 gross from Tulloch Ard, Dunbeath.
“Buyers paced themselves throughout the day creating a steady trade at very satisfactory rates.”
