FORT WILLIAM, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd., (November, 28th) sold 78 store cattle, 12 adult head of breeding cattle, 32 OTM cattle and 822 sheep of all classes at its Christmas Sale of store and breeding cattle and sheep.
Bullocks (39) averaged 128.9p and sold to 192.1p per kg for 229kg Simmental crosses from No. 2 & 3 Kinloid, Arisaig, and £540 gross twice for a 470kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Craigard, Banavie, and 407kg Limousins from Gorten, Arisaig.
Heifers (39) averaged 106.9p and sold to 168.1p per kg for a 226kg Limousin from Caolas, Onich, Fort William, and £845 gross for a 627kg Aberdeen Angus from Auchterawe, Fort Augustus.
Breeding cattle (12) sold to £660 gross for a Saler cross in calf cow from No. 4 Bohuntin, Spean Bridge.
OTM cattle (32) averaged 75.3p and sold to 98.5p per kg for a 675kg Aberdeen Angus cross bullock from Kildonan Farm, Isle of Eigg, and £665gross twice for a 696kg Charolais cross from Kinlochmoidart Farm, Acharacle, and a 675kg Aberdeen Angus bullock from Kildonan Farm.
"Quality stock in short supply selling at recent high rates, with the remainder mainly weathered types being more difficult to cash."
Lambs (525) averaged £18.97 per head and sold to £45 gross twice for Suffolk crosses from Blargie Farm, Laggan, and Drumbuie, Drumnadrochit.
Feeding sheep (296) sold to £40 gross for a Suffolk from Crubenbeg, Laggan.
