DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (December 17th) sold 104 MV accredited pedigree females at the annual show and sale, sponsored by Teddy's Home Cooking at the Mart. One of the largest crowds ever witnessed a highly successful sale, establishing this as an annual fixture.
The Beltex and Suffolk judge, Mr A Mackenzie, Whitebog, Fortrose, made the following awards. Beltex champion was awarded to a Garrion Knock Knock gimmer carrying twins, from Miss J Brown, Tiree Cottage, Watten, realising 350gns to Mr J Simpson, Tullyglens, Dunphail, and the reserve award to a Balig Branston gimmer carrying a single from Messrs J Scott, Fearn Farm, Tain, realising 300gns to Messrs W Robertson & Son, Fodderletter Farms. Suffolk champion was awarded to a gimmer by Drimmie Apollo from Messrs H. P. Sleigh & Sons, St John's Wells, Fyvie, realising 500gns to Mrs M Bisset, Mariain, Evanton, with the reserve award going to another Drimmie Apollo daughter, an '06 born ewe also from St Johns Wells, Fyvie, which realised 400gns.
The Texel judge, Mr J Leitch, Feolquoyevie, Harry, Orkney, awarded his Texel champion to a ewe lamb by Coulter Allers Max Factor, from Messrs T & P Dalgetty, Woodside, Muir of Tarradale, realising 400gns to the judge. The reserve champion was a Glenside My Lord gimmer carrying twins from Messrs A & G Howie, West Knock, Stuartfield, which realised 500gns to Mr D Rankin, Kilmaluag, Skye.
Ewe lambs: Texel sold to 900gns from Galcantray Farm, Cawdor. Beltex sold to 150gns from Tiree Cottage.
In lamb gimmers: Texel sold to 680gns from West Knock. Suffolk sold to 520gns from St John's Wells. Beltex sold to 350gns from Tiree Cottage.
In lamb ewes: Texel sold to 900gns thrice from Galcantray Farm. Beltex sold to 400gns from Tiree Cottage. Suffolk sold to 400gns from St John's Wells.

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (April 1st) sold 8,772 sheep of all classes, including the annual spring sale of ewe lambs with an overall sale averaged of £122.09. Ewe Lambs (4,806) sold to £270 gross for a pen of Blue Texels from Broombank, Culloden Moor.
