DINGWALL, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd, (March, 17th) sold 14 Young Farmers over-wintered cattle at their annual sale, kindly sponsored by Messrs Craiglands Quarry, Fortrose, Conan Vets, Conon Bridge and ABP, Perth.
Bullocks (13) averaged 261.1p and sold to 295.5p per kilo for the 2nd prize homebred bullock a 423kg Limousin cross from Georgia Fraser, Little Croy Farm, Inverness and £1,400 gross for 1st prize homebred bullock a 516kg Limousin cross from Duncan Munro, Invercharron Mains, Ardgay.
Heifers (1) averaged 366.4p and sold to 366.4p per kilo and £1,700 gross for the Overall Champion, 1st prize homebred heifer a 464kg Limousin cross from Georgia Fraser, Little Croy Farm, Inverness.
The judge Mr Budge, Brae Edge Farms chose as his Overall Champion, 1st prize homebred heifer an 11 month old 464kg Limousin cross from Georgia Fraser, Little Croy Farm, Inverness selling at £1,700 gross to Colin Mackay, Westburn.
Overall Reserve Champion, went to Duncan Munro, Invercharron with his 11 month old 482kg Charolais cross selling at £1,300 to Messrs Backmuir Livestock, Keith.
The highest daily live weight gain and highest gross margin was awarded to Robert Pottie with his 580kg Shorthorn cross gaining 1.46kg a day and selling at £1,140.
