Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd - Sale 14 October 2009

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 14th) sold 1,924 weaned calves at their special annual district ballot show and sale.
The judge, Mr E. Fettes, Braes of Enzie, Buckie, awarded the overall champion of the McCallum Haulage sponsored show to a seventeen month old Limousin bullock from Mr D. Morrison, 141 Burnside, Kinlochbervie, scaling in at 535kg and realising 185p per kg and �990 gross to Messrs T. H. Stevenson & Sons, Balmacolly, Bankfoot. The reserve champion was a 330kg, six month old Charolais cross heifer from Mr H. Mackay, Wester Tomloan, Glenferness, which realised 270p per kg and �890 to the Firm of J. Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay.
Bullocks (1,119) averaged 211.2p and sold to 297.6p per kg for a pen of six 210kg Charolais crosses from Leabost, Glenhinisdale, and �1000 gross for a pair of 475kg Charolais crosses from Dell Farm, Farr.
Heifers (792) averaged 200.1p and sold to 343.9p per kg and �980 gross for a 285kg Limousin cross from Dunmaglass Mains, Dores.
Young bulls (13) averaged 189p and sold to 320p per kg for a 150kg Charolais cross from Leabost, and �650 gross for a 355kg Limousin cross from Invercharron, Ardgay.
