DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (August, 19th) sold 14,650 store lambs at their annual district sale to average £67.52 (+£7.47 on the year).

Cheviot wedder lambs (8,600) averaged £64.15 (+£5.11) and sold to £128 gross from 1 Dounie, Edderton.
Cheviot ewe lambs (1,852) averaged £77.77 (+£14.77) and sold to £160.00 gross from 185 Migdale, Bonar Bridge.
Texel cross lambs (1,712) averaged £71.82 (-£7.14) and sold to £90.00 gross from Parkview, Auckengill.
Other breeds (2,486) averaged £69.81 (+£11.20) and sold to £106.00 gross for Beltex crosses from Creagard, Struanmore.

"A mammoth day of selling was witnessed within Dingwall mart as the UK's largest one day sheep sale took place. A packed ringside of buyers were present and the trade was steady and buoyant from dawn until dusk. Top draw wedder lambs met a firm enquiry and were regularly in the mid to late 70’s bracket. Ewe Lambs with great skins, Silky hair and oozing with character met a fierce enquiry with many purchases venturing home short of numbers, Continental lambs also met a brisk trade with pen after pen realising well into the £80 for shapey sorts."
