FORT WILLIAM, FORT WILLIAM, Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd., (September 15th) sold 348 weaned calves and store cattle, 19 OTM cattle and 12 adult head of breeding cattle.

Bullocks (213) averaged 304.9p (+35.5p) and sold 355.9p per kg for 170kg Limousin cross from Crossfield, Anaheilt, and £1,040 gross for a 455kg Limousin cross from Lurignish Farm, Appin.
Heifers (135) averaged 295.2p (+37.3p) and sold to 358.6p per kg for a 145kg Simmental cross from Ardtornish Farms, Morven, and £1,060 gross for a 400kg Limousin cross from Lurignish Farm.
Breeding cattle (12) sold to £2,000 gross for a Charolais cross cow with Charolais cross heifer calf at foot.
OTM cattle (19) averaged 132.3p and sold to 154.1p per kg for a 610kg Whitebred Shorthorn cross from Moy Farm, Banavie and £1,030 gross for a Whitebred Shorthorn cross also from Moy Farm.

"Fort William calf sale started the season off with an ‘explosive trade'. Credit to the vendors who showed off their wares to full advantage with large lots of cattle being sold to a ringside of buyers many of whom attracted by the new mid-week slot left without purchasing. Portree calf sale on Monday offers an opportunity to acquire well bred, naturally reared calves similar to those sold today."
