The two day Highland education festival held at Dingwall Academy on Tuesday and Wednesday has been a resounding success with over 1800 teaching staff, learning support auxiliaries and classroom assistants from schools across the Highlands attending.
Featuring the Curriculum for Excellence work taking place in Highland schools, both days brought teaching staff together for workshops and training sessions and to hear from keynote speakers to demonstrate the depth and variety of good practice in the Highlands.
An exhibition area with stands promoting local community groups, organisations and businesses which are able to support Curriculum for Excellence in Highland was popular with delegates as were the keynote speaker presentations.
During his presentation the Director of Education, Culture and Sport, Hugh Fraser thanked the team involved in organising the ambitious event for having the vision. He said: "It is a major achievement to gather so many people together who all share the same goal of getting the best for our learners and helping young people get involved and fulfill their aspirations.
"Curriculum For Excellence is changing the way we deliver education and here in Highland we have a commitment to excellence. Staff are producing excellent work and experiences for our learners and the overwhelming response to our first home grown Education Festival proves there is a real desire to share good practice and move forward together with a clear vision for the future. Feedback from those attending has been very positive with people appreciating the opportunity to share information and learn from successful work already underway in our schools."
