DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October 13th) sold 1,271 weaned calves at their second annual district ballot show and sale.
The show champion sponsored by NFU Mutual Dingwall & Thurso and judged by Mr Brodie Keir, Berrybrae was awarded to a 280kg 8 month old Limousin cross from Messrs J Munro & Sons, Invercharron realising £940. The reserve champion was a 290kg 6 month old Limousin cross also from Messrs J Munro & Sons, Invercharron which realised £940.
Bullocks (751) averaged 256.5p and sold to 335.7p per kg for a 280kg Limousin cross from Invercharron, Ardgay and £1,220 gross for a 466kg Charolais cross from Milton Farm, Aberarder.
Heifers (509) averaged 245.1p and sold to 440.7p per kg and £1,300 gross for a 295kg British Blue from 189 Fleucharry, Dornoch and £1,300 gross for a 375kg Limousin cross from Drummuie, Golspie,
Young Bulls (11) averaged 245.7p (last year 250.9p) and sold to 292.6p per kg for a 270kg Limousin cross from Invercharron and £1,220 gross for a 590kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Clashinglash, Achue.
