DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (March, 1st) sold 1,489 prime sheep.
Old season lambs (887) averaged 244.0p (+1.2p) and sold to 274.7p per kg for a pair of 45.5g Beltex crosses from
Torgorm, Conon Bridge and £139 gross for a pair of 61kg Blackfaces from Blackford Farm, Croy.
Feeding sheep (602) sold to £215 gross for a pen of Beltex cross ewes from Inshes Farm, Inverness.

“A more mixed show for quality was presented to the usual full company of buyers, however this wasn't reflected in the drop in the sale average as there were fewer heavies around this week. Well bred sorts however, were keenly bid for and short of buyer’s requirements. The heavier end remain the hardest commodity to cash and there is no advantage in over feeding your sheep.
The ewe trade continued on from last week’s bonanza and would be dearer throughout. An excellent sale average of £105 per head was achieved that mostly consisted of hill type export ewes.”

*Notice to Vendors*

Could all vendors of prime lambs please deliver their lambs to the Mart before 10.30 A.M. to allow us time to have them clipped prior to the start of the sale. Thank You.
