DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (May, 11th) sold 448 store cattle and 73 OTM cattle.
Bullocks (175) averaged 241.2p per kg and sold to 281.0p per kg for a 395kg Charolais cross from Kindeace, Alness and £1,250 gross for a 570kg Beef Shorthorn from Alterwall, Lyth.
Heifers (249) averaged 223.7p per kg and sold to 305.1p per kg for a pen of 472kg Limousin crosses from Achavrole Mains, Halkirk and £1,510 gross for a pen of 540kg Limousin crosses from Meadle, Isle of Skye.
Young Bulls (24) sold to 220.5p per kg for a pen of 263kg Whitebred Shorthorns from Cairnurenan, Mulbuie and £1,160 gross for a 585kg Beef Shorthorn from Upperton, Balnain.
"Cattle met a firm enquiry despite commodity prices ever increasing. Due to an influx of grass this last couple of weeks grazers were sharper."

"Another solid cow trade was witnessed, however the edge would have been off the extravagant trade we had at the last sale. Vendors were still receiving phenomenal returns, in particular well fleshed sorts which were the keenest sought after."
