A Wick based superfood company has just scooped the top prize for its unique snacks.

SHORE The Scottish Seaweed Co. has won a gold award for its Seaweed Chips in the Small Producer category at The Scottish Retail Food & Drink Awards (SRFDA) 2022.

Created to help get more of Scotland's fantastic food and drink products onto more Scottish retail shelves, the SRFDA has just celebrated its second year with products from all four corners of Scotland recognised.

More than 50 expert judges from all disciplines judged hundreds of products over an intense month-long period and SHORE and its Seaweed Chips was one of five small producers to win a gold award.

Available in three flavours, the chips are available in health food shops around the country, selected Sainsbury's and Coop stores in Scotland and will be launching in the Morrisons Health & Wellbeing section later this month.

SHORE Co-founder Keith Paterson commented: "We were delighted to pick up this award. It marks another important milestone in our vision to stay at the forefront of the healthier and sustainable snacking revolution with our range that delivers both local Scottish provenance and great taste."

The Seaweed Snack sector has grown by over 30% in the last 12 months and is now worth over £4m

SHORE shipped over 400,000 packs of its seaweed chips in 2021, its first full year after launch.

This year it will produce over 100 tonnes of seaweed for its own seaweed chips and also to supply an ever-increasing and diverse customer base across Scotland, the UK and beyond.
