DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (October, 20st) sold 4,143 breeding and feeding sheep at the annual sale of N.C. Cheviot ewes and gimmers.

Gimmers (727) averaged £115.92 (no change) and sold to £230 gross for a Cheviot from Viewbay, Munlochy.
Correct ewes (2,123) averaged £82.79 (up £10.84 on the year) and sold to £165 gross for a pen of Texel crosses from Inchrory, Dornoch.
Broken mouth ewes (641) sold to £92 gross for a pair of Texel crosses from 116 Knockarthur, Rogart.
Feeding ewes (389) averaged £53.14 (up £3.54 on the year) and sold to £112 gross for a pen of Cheviot Mules from Inchrory, Dornoch.
Lambs (214) sold to £140 gross for a Texel Tup lamb from Raddery, Fortrose.
Rams (33) sold to £380 gross for a Texel Ram from Inchrory, Dornoch.
Feeding sheep (16) sold to £81 gross for a Blackface wedder from 9 Sasaig, Sleat.

"Part one of Dingwall's ‘Great Two-Day Cheviot Sale’ saw a much firmer trade for all classes of ewes than seen at the previous sale, However the quality and fitness of the sheep was better. Correct ewes met a flying trade, and many intending purchasers went home empty handed. As seems to be the common theme these days, there were one or two dispersals/reductions one which gathered particular interest was the renowned Viewbay flock. This impressive run of ewes oozed quality in every department and were exceptionally well bid for.
