DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (November 9th) sold (434) weaned calves, store and 36 adult head of breeding cattle including 36 Highland and Highland crosses.

Bullocks (194) averaged 217.7p per kg (last year 205.5p) and sold to 310.5p per kg for a 190kg British Blue cross from 37 & 55 Sangomore, Durness and £1,230 gross for a 545kg Beef Shorthorn cross from Achavraat, Nairn.
Heifers (146) averaged 214.4p per kg (last year 206.4p) and sold to 318.9p per kg for a 185kg British Blue cross from Craigton, Bonar Bridge and £1,660 gross for a 745kg Beef Shorthorn cross from Achavraat, Nairn.
Young Bulls (32) sold to 240.0p per kg for a 300kg Simmental cross from Bunchrew Far, Inverness and £1,280 gross for a 605kg Aberdeen Angus from Longoe Farm, Mey.
Highland & Highland cross bullocks (38) sold to 196.4p per kg for a 387kg bullock from Alladale Estates, Ardgay and £760 gross twice for 430kg and 387kg bullocks also from Alladale Estates, Ardgay.
Highland & Highland cross heifers (24) sold to 197.6p per kg and £820 gross for a 415kg heifer from Alladale Estates, Ardgay and £820 gross for a 510kg heifer from Balmacaan Farm, Drumnadrochit.
In calf cow (25) sold to £1,240 gross for an Aberdeen Angus cross from National Trust, Isle of Canna.
In calf heifer (2) sold to £800 gross for a Highland from Lower Toftingall, Watten.
Cow with male calf at foot (2) sold to £940 from Wester Dorrachan, Delny.
Cow with heifer calf at foot (6) sold to £1,400 from Lower Toftingall, Watten.
Bulls (1) sold to £1,600 from National Trust, Isle of Canna.

"A very random show for quality was forward today. Calves that were of good bone and shape were sharper than the previous sale which cements the fact quality prevails again."

OTM Highland cattle (15) sold to 150.0p per kg and £1,020 gross for a 680kg cow from Lamburn Croft, Kildary.

"Another firm trade was had in the OTM ring, as another big number sold to a larger than usual ringside of buyers. Meat continues to be king whilst the leaner end sold at comparable rates.
