Donna Manson Chief Executive Highland Council Will Leave For A New Post in Devon

The Chief Executive, Donna Manson, has been offered and has accepted the post of Chief Executive for Devon County Council.
She will be leaving The Highland Council in February.
Donna has been Chief Executive at Scotland's largest rural authority, The Highland Council, since 2018 where she led the authority in developing an ambitious, sustainable, and connected vision for Highland.
Donna led the Highland Council through a period of immense change and challenge, including the Covid response and recovery and impacts of Brexit, as well as delivering UK, Scottish Government and local authority elections as Returning Officer.
She has a track record of improvement, best value and successful budget delivery, and rebuilding substantial reserves and resilience within The Highland Council, while implementing significant investment projects.
Convener Bill Lobban said: "Donna has done a tremendous job for The Highland Council in the most difficult and challenging of circumstances and I personally wish her well in taking up her new position with Devon County Council."

Donna started her career teaching in areas of deprivation and has a real passion for reducing inequalities for families. She worked in Education in Edinburgh and Fife before going moving to the Scottish Borders Council, where she gained extensive experience of all Council areas and working with partners as a Corporate Director.

Members at today's (14 March 2024) meeting of The Highland Council agreed the local authority's new draft Community Wealth Building Strategy. They were also asked to note that a period of public engagement on the draft will now begin, with a final strategy returning to full Council for consideration in September.
Plans to invest up to £60m new Capital in Highland roads and infrastructure have been approved by Members at the Council meeting on 14 March 2024. The decision will see an additional £40m Capital investment in roads and transport infrastructure.
