DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (April 3rd) sold 7,663 sheep of all classes, including the annual spring sale of ewe lambs.

Ewe Lambs (6,228) averaged £97.37 (+£1.11 on the year) and sold to £185 gross for a pen of Black Cheviots from 9 Mellon Udrigle, Laide.
Store Lambs (1,170) averaged £80.04 and sold to £138 gross for a Cheviot from Ose Farm, Struan.
Ewes and Feeding Sheep (105) sold to £158 gross for a Texel Ram from 68 Foindle, Lairg.
Breeding Sheep (160) sold to £60 gross for a pen of Cross In-Lamb Ewes from Mid Gruinards, Ardgay.

"The annual ewe hogg sale proved to be another bonanza for the vendors in The Castle. A full ringside of buyers from all over the UK were present once again, with many a new face to provide ample competition to proceedings. Coinciding with the new found confidence in the prime ring all classes were miles dearer on the year, rocketing to an exceptional overall average of £97 per head for predominantly hill bred hoggs."
