DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (May, 10th) sold 634 store cattle and 70 OTM cattle.

Bullocks (374) averaged 295.9p per kg and sold to 340.0p per kg for a pen of 350kg Charolais crosses from Raitcastle Farm, Nairn and £2,080 gross for a 785kg Limousin cross from 8 Englishtonmuir, Bunchrew.
Heifers (252) averaged 273.1p per kg and sold to 329.7p per kg for a pen of 461kg Limousin crosses from Clury Farm, Dulnain Bridge and £1,900 gross for a pair of 587kg Limousin crosses from Fodderletter Farms, Tomintoul.
Young Bulls (8) sold to 319.8p per kg for a pair of 172kg Beef Shorthorn crosses from 110 Knockarthur, Rogart and £1,060 gross for a 410kg Limousin cross from Raitcastle Farm, Nairn.

"Another packed ringside of active buyers were present amongst the store cattle yet again resulting in a brisk trade throughout. All classes were sharper than the previous sale, in particular grazing bullocks which met an animated enquiry."

“An absolutely outstanding trade greeted the cull cow vendors today resulting in a record average for the centre. Well fleshed and shapely cows were in particular keenly sought after and many more could easily have been sold.”
