DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (February, 24th) sold 36 registered Cheviot females at its Harbro sponsored show and sale.
Hill Register judge Mr F. S. Renwick, Inverbroom, Ullapool, awarded his champion to the first prize in lamb ewe, a homebred daughter carrying twins to Balnakeil High Hopes from Achentoul Farms Limited, Kinbrace, realising £800 to the judge, with the reserve award going to the first prize gimmer, a homebred daughter carrying a single to Amat Hustler, from A. R. Mackenzie, Heathmount, Tain, which realised £400 again to the judge.
The Main Register judge, Mr J. H. Cromarty, Roadside, Toab, Orkney, awarded his champion to the first prize in lamb gimmer, sired by Roadside Jack The Lad, from Messrs G. Cormack & Sons, Wester, Dunnet, realising £900 to the judge, and the reserve award to the first prize ewe lamb, sired by Smiddyquoy Monarch, from Messrs J & J Farquhar, Smiddyquoy, Watten, realising £300 to Mr N. Macleod, 7 Fleming Place, Stornoway.
"Well bred, quality sheep were keenly sought after."
