"The annual show and sale of Highland Mule breeding sheep once again didn't disappoint us, despite last years centre records not being matched this year. The pre-sale show which was once again kindly sponsored by Highland Mule Breeders Association and PK Nutrition. Judging proceedings this year for both gimmers and ewe lambs were in the able hands of Ross Adam, Newton of Haddo, who has bought sheep here for many a year. The Champion pen of gimmers was awarded to Messrs McCallum, Mountrich on their final swansong before retirement, which really was quite fitting for another great supported of this sale. The outstanding pen of 20 were knocked down at £250 to Mr Munro, Pitkerrie to stable alongside his champion pen of Cheviot Mules he bought a fortnight ago.
In the ewe lamb pens quality was in abundance with the champion ticket given to Messrs Macpherson, Mains of Blackford. These huge girls full of colour and character were knocked down to Messrs Leslie, Redhill for £175 Per Head. On a whole colour was the key preference amongst the buyers followed by size in both gimmers and ewe lambs."
