DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (March, 30th) sold 1,084 store cattle and 32 OTM cattle at their annual show and sale.
Bullocks (614) averaged 182.5p and sold to 219.2p per kg for a 365kg Charolais cross from Pitmain Farm, Kingussie, and £1,040 gross for a 585kg Limousin cross from Torgorm, Conon Bridge.
Heifers (466) averaged 178.5p and sold to 403p per kg for a 335kg Limousin cross from Meikle Geddes, Nairn, and £1,380 gross for a 550kg Simmental cross from Auchorachan, Glenlivet.
Young bulls (4) sold to 146p per kg and £540 gross for a 370kg Limousin from Strone Farm, Banavie.
OTM prime and feeding cows (29) averaged 107.8p and sold to 125.8p per kg for a 775kg Belgian Blue cross from Dunmaglass Estate, Inverness, and £985 gross for a 790kg Limousin cross from Balnagall, Tain.
OTM clean bullocks (1) sold to 139p per kg and £1,105 gross for a 795kg Hereford from Kindeace, Alness.
The Ness Motors Inverness, Robertson's of Tain, H.I.S Inverness and N.F.U Dingwall sponsored Show and Sale of store cattle judged by Bruce Walker, Newton of Lewesk, Insch, awarded his overall champion to a 540kg Charolais cross bullock from Messrs W J Jack & Son, Woodend, Killearnan, realising £1,030 gross to the judge. Reserve champion was a 485kg Limousin cross bullock from Mr J Farquharson, 25 Camult Muir, Kiltarlity, realising £1,000 to Messrs G & S McConnachie, Berrybrae, Insch.
