Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd,. (November 24th) sold 15 sheep dogs at their first Highland Sheep Dog Sale.
Dogs (5) sold to £4,000 gross for a fully trained 2-year-old from C. Robertson, Swarthoull, Shetland.
Bitches (10) sold to £4,800 gross for a fully trained 5-year-old from F. S Renwick, Inverbroom, Ullapool.
"Dingwall Marts first highland dog sale was greeted with a momentous crowd and trade to go with it. Leading the pack was Mr S Renwick, Inverbroom with Glenview Jan. An exceptional 5-year-old hill dog tapping out at £4,800.
Closey followed by Marge (Nell) from Mr M Sutherland, Mossgiel, Achalone selling at £4,400. In third place behind them was Houplaw fly at £4,000 from Mr C Robertson, Swarthoull, Shetland. A credit to this vendor travelling all the way down and selling all 5 of his dogs that were forward.
In the part trained section another dog which took the eye was Jess from Miss V Shearer, Lythmore Cottage, Caithness impressive in the run the hammer fell at £3,800. This inaugural sale will hopefully be the start of a yearly sales fixture in the Highlands."
