DINGWALL., Dingwall and Highlands Marts Ltd., (September 9th) sold 3,075 ewe lambs and gimmers at the Highland Mule Breeders Association annual sale.
Highland Mule gimmers (671) averaged £223.08 and sold to £265 gross from Ballindalloch Home Farm.
Other breeds of gimmer (30) averaged £182 and sold to £210 gross for a pen of Cheviot mules from Achnabat, Torness
Highland mule ewe lambs (2,347) averaged £145.35 and sold to £205 gross from Milton Farm, Aberarder.
Other breeds of ewe lambs (27) averaged £132.41 and sold to £135 gross for a pen Cheviot mules from Alvie Estate, Kincraig.

"The Highlands premier show and sale of Highland scotch mule gimmers and ewe lambs was once again kindly sponsored by the Highland mule breeders association. Judging proceedings in the gimmer section this year were in the hands of sale regular James Munro, Pitkerrie Farm. He picked his champion from D & D M Leslie, Redhill top pen of 20. Our judge backed his decision ands purchased them for £260, with the same home achieving this price for three of their pens. Top price of the day however went to Ballindalloch home farm whose second prize pen of 20 realised £265 being knocked down to Iain Wilson, Cairnglass.
The ewe lambs this year were judged by Ian Robertson, Inchcoisie, Huntly. A quality pen of 20 ewe lambs consigned by Rory Macintyre, Tulloch were awarded the champion ticket this year and realised, £190, with our judge backing his pre-sale decision. The ewe lambs were topped by an outstanding pen of 20, just oozing in quality from Brian Johnstone, Achnabat which were knocked down to Ballindalloch Home Farm. The top gross price was achieved on 3 other occasions by K & J Matheson, Milton, Aberarder."
