Traffic restrictions for Belladrum Festival 2026

8th July 2026

Motorists are being advised of a series of temporary road closures, speed limits and traffic restrictions that will be in place to support the safe running of the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2026.

The Highland Council has introduced a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order to manage traffic and reduce disruption in the area around Kiltarlity and Belladrum during the event period.

The measures will come into force from 12 noon on Thursday 16 July 2026 and will remain in place until 3pm on Friday 7 August 2026, covering the build-up, event and breakdown phases.

The key restrictions for motorists will include:

Reduced speed limits

A 30mph speed limit will apply on sections of the A833 and A862, including routes around Milton, Phoineas and Beauly, at various times throughout the event period.

A 20mph limit will be in force on part of the A833 near Kiltarlity during peak festival days from 29 July to 2 August.

Road closure

The U2346 Bog Road (Kiltarlity) will be closed to vehicles between its junctions with the C1072 and C1102 for the duration of the restrictions.

Turning restrictions

A temporary ban on right turns (Campervans, Caravans and Trailers) will apply from the U2108 Belladrum Road onto the A833 at the Megstone junction.

One-way systems

The U2108 Belladrum Road will operate a temporary one-way traffic system from 05:00hrs on Thursday 30th July to 23:59hrs on Sunday 2nd August 2026.

A number of other routes will may operate temporary one-way traffic systems at key times, depending on traffic flows and their impact on the public road network. including:

B9164 Bogroy – Kirkhill – Dunballoch Road

C1106 Fanellan Road

U1604 Kiltarlity Road

C1108 Kiltarlity – Eskadale – Kerrow Road

These measures will help manage peak arrival and departure times, improving traffic flow and safety for festival goers and local residents.

Access and exemptions

Emergency service vehicles will be exempt from restrictions when responding to incidents. Pedestrian access will be maintained where safe to do so.

Traffic management personnel and police may direct vehicles as required.

Plan ahead

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time for journeys in the area; follow signed diversion routes and traffic management instructions; and consider alternative routes where possible.

These temporary measures are essential to support one of the Highland's largest events while minimising disruption to the wider road network.
