DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts, (February, 27th) sold 1,689 sheep of all classes.
Lambs (871) averaged £44.64 and sold to £77 gross for a Cheviot from 58 Rhue, Ullapool.
Ewes (506) averaged £51.76 and sold to £107 gross for Texels from Wester Raddery, Fortrose.
In-lamb gimmers and ewes (213) averaged £74.69 and sold to £160 for Halfbred gimmers from Achavelgin, Nairn.
Rams and feeding sheep (99) averaged £54.64 and sold to £105 for Cheviot rams from 2 Glaick, Ardross.
“Strong and fleshy lambs and ewes of all breeds again met an increase in value, leaner and smaller kinds were harder to cash. Breeding sheep met a satisfactory demand.”
