The Government Support for Business R&D and Innovation event is a free workshop to highlight the wide range of Government support available to help small and medium sized enterprises invest in R&D and innovation and to grow their businesses.
Each session will be led by a representative from the relevant delivery body, including HMRC, the Technology Strategy Board, the UK Intellectual Property Office, the Design Council and HIE. There will also be ample time for Q&As. The day will be supported by manned stands.
This workshop should help businesses understand the benefits of R&D tax credits, including increasing claiming for design work where this involves R&D.
Areas covered include:
using the world-class level of R&D tax credit relief to invest more in your R&D
planning for the reduced (10%) rate of corporation tax on profits attributable to patents
using R&D grants available
networking with your peers in R&D
utilising government procurement opportunities for your R&D
maximising the value of intellectual property for competitive advantage
using design to add value and help your business grow.
Who should attend?
This workshop is part of a national series and is open to all innovative companies with a capacity to grow. It is aimed at R&D performing businesses and their professional advisors, to increase their understanding of the Government support available.
The workshops are part of the ‘Business in You’ campaign – a partnership between private enterprise and Government to highlight support for start-ups and growing businesses and encourage entrepreneurial spirit in 2012. For further information about ‘Business in You’ see businessinyou.bis.gov.uk
The workshop is being organised by the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in conjunction with the Scottish Government and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).
