DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts, (March, 27th) sold 2,805 sheep of all classes.
Lambs (1,267) averaged £42.80 and sold to £78 gross for Cheviots from Lingland, Caithness.
Ewes (1,192) averaged £65.96 and sold to £129 gross for Suffolks from Mariain, Evanton.
Ewe and gimmers with lambs at foot (58) averaged £105.10 and sold to £152 gross for a Suffolk ewe with twin lambs at foot from Dell Farm, Whitebridge.
In-lamb gimmers and ewes (181) averaged £69.80 and sold to £102 gross twice, for Cheviot gimmers scanned twins from 68 Lerin, Durness, and from 14 Ormiscaig, Aultbea.
Rams and feeding sheep (107) averaged £65.12 and sold to £126 gross for Texel rams from Dunain Mains, Inverness.
“Strong lambs met a good enquiry, medium and long keeping lambs were easier. Quality heavy fit ewes met an improved demand, leaner ewes were good value. Breeding sheep met a very selective enquiry.”
