DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (April, 2nd) sold 1,094 store cattle and 28 OTM cattle.
Bullocks (714) averaged 244.4p and sold to 312.2p per kg for a pen of 378kg a Limousin crosses from Westburn, Thurso, and £1,400 gross for a pair of 575kg Limousin crosses from Woodend, Muir of Ord.
Heifers (371) averaged 231.4p and sold to 366.5p per kg for a pen of 382kg British Blue crosses from Bunchrew, Inverness and £1,440 gross for a 640kg Blonde d'aquitaine cross from Udale, Poyntzfield.
Young bulls (9) averaged 205.6p and sold to 212.3p per kg for a pen of Aberdeen Angus crosses from Ardheslaig, Strathcarron, and £1,200 gross for a 725kg Stabiliser cross from Wester Rarichie, Nigg.
OTM cows (26) averaged 135.9p per kg and sold to 176.2p per kg for a 630kg Charolais cross from Torgorm, Conon Bridge and £1,270 gross for an 895kg Simmental cross also from Torgorm.
OTM heifers (one) sold to 156.3p per kg and £930 gross for a 595kg Simmental cross from Dunain Mains, Inverness.
OTM bullocks (one) sold to 189.4p per kg and £1,430 gross for a Saler cross from Westfield Farm, Thurso.
Harbro, The Robertson’s of Tain and Farmers Guardian sponsored show and sale of store cattle judged by Tom Stevenson Esq., Balmacolly Farm, Bankfoot, Perth Shire, awarded his overall champion to a 640kg Blonde d'aquitaine cross heifer from Mr T. Henderson, Udale, Poyntzfield, realising £1,440 gross to the Judge. Reserve champion was a 615kg Limousin cross bullock from Invercharron, Benreay, Ardgay, realising £1,360 gross also to the Judge
