Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd - Sale Sale 16 July 2014

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (July, 16th) sold 1,261 store cattle and 18 adult head of breeding cattle at their 11th anniversary show and sale.
The Judge, Mr D. Morrison, Burnside, Kinlochbervie, chose as his overall champion in the T.S.H. Burns & Son, Solicitors sponsored show of single cattle, the intermediate champion, a 470kg 15-month old Limousin cross heifer from the Firm of J Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay, which realised £1,110 to Messrs Backmuir Livestock, Keith.

The reserve champion award went to the senior champion, a 20-month old, 570kg British Blue cross heifer from the Mr T. Henderson, Udale, Poyntzfield, which realised £1,440.

Bullocks (811) averaged 228.4p (-25.2p on the year) and sold to 276.5p per kg for a 405kg Limousin cross from Wester Tomloan, Ardclach, and £1520 gross for a 730kg Limousin cross from Udale, Poyntzfield.
Heifers (449) averaged 217.8p (-19.3p on the year) and sold to 253.5p per kg for a 505kg Limousin cross from Invercharron, Ardgay, and £1440 gross for the reserve champion, a 570kg British Blue from Udale.
Breeding cattle (18) sold to £2600 gross for a cow with bull calf at foot from the reduction of the pedigree Limousin herd from Kinnahaird Farm, Contin.

"With a large attendance of buyers, a strong trade prevailed throughout at levels ahead of expectations."

OTM cows (25) averaged 127p and sold to 150p per kilo for a 740kg Simmental cross from Tore Mains, Tore, and £1,330 gross for a 935kg Charolais also from Tore Mains.
OTM clean heifers (5) averaged 147.8p and sold to 180.2p per kilo for a 505kg British Shorthorn from Todholes, Weydale, and £1,050 gross for a 630kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Millairies, Dalcross.
OTM bulls (one) sold to 97.3p per kilo and £890 gross for a 915kg Charolais from Blackpark, Nairn.
