Accommodation Services framework agreement - supplier events

The Highland Council wishes to establish a framework agreement for Accommodation Services in the Highlands with suitably competent providers.

The framework agreement would commence on 1 December 2014 until 30 November 2017 with an option to extend for a further 12 month period.

Accommodation Services may be used when the Council and partnering organisations, have a responsibility or have agreed to pay accommodation for employees, councillors, visitors, contractors, clients or patients - for the purpose of attending work related meeting or training conferences and medical appointments.

Public sector organisations that will be entitled to use the framework agreement within the Highland area are:

The Highland Council,
High Life Highland,
Highland Opportunity,
NHS Highland,
Forestry Commission Scotland,
Highlands & Islands Enterprise,
Scottish Natural Heritage, and
Visit Scotland.

The Council is undertaking a tendering process to put the framework agreement in place and tender documentation is available from 15 September 2014; and can be obtained from:

The deadline for tender submissions is 13 October 2014.

Supplier Briefing Events will be held in the following locations throughout Highland:

Monday 22 September 2014 - Lochaber House, Fort William at 11:30-13:30
Wednesday 24 September 2014 - Main Hall, The Town House, Inverness – one event at 10:00 – 12:00 and one at 13:30 – 15:30
Monday 29 September 2014 Portree – Council Chamber, 12:00 – 14:00
Wednesday 1 October – Wick, Town Hall, 10:30 – 12:00
Wednesday 1 October – Thurso, Naver Business Centre, 13:30 – 15:00

Council staff will be available at the events to provide an overview of:

our objectives;
how to register and use Public Contracts Scotland Postbox; and
the tender documentation and what providers are required to submit.

Prior registration for these events is preferred.

Tax Scheme Hits £4 Billion Milestone
Households across Scotland have received £4.1 billion in relief since the Council Tax Reduction scheme was introduced in 2013.   People on low incomes are eligible for the benefit if they live in Scotland - there is no equivalent in England where most councils require each household to contribute a minimum amount of council tax, irrespective of ability to do so.

Improvement Works In Thurso
The Highland Council is preparing to carry out improvement works in Thurso at Ormlie Road and at The Mall riverside path adjacent to Janet Street.   The scope of works on Ormlie Road will include junction improvements between Castlegreen Road and Juniper Drive with new drop kerbs and tactile paving and some surface repairs.

An Advantage Of A Big Common Good Fund - Inverness Winter Payments Already Awarded To Over 1,000 Households
Applications to the Inverness Winter Payments Scheme, which is fully funded by the Inverness Common Fund, have already been awarded to 1,035 eligible households within the 7 specified Inverness Wards.   Leader of Inverness Area, Councillor Ian Brown said: "Since the Scheme was opened to applications for this winter, already £114,885 has been awarded to people who live in the eligible Wards of Aird and Loch Ness, Inverness West, Inverness Central, Inverness Ness-side, Inverness Millburn, Culloden and Ardersier and Inverness South Wards.

Success Of First Highland-wide Virtual Jobs Fair
