DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 1st) sold 418 store cattle at their annual show and sale of native and continental store cattle, kindly sponsored by Gareth Vaughan, (NFU Mutual), Dingwall, (including an Aberdeen Angus section).
The judge, Mr J Ross, Wester Cullicudden Farm, Conon Bridge, awarded the continental champion to a 550kg Limousin cross bullock from Messrs J Munro & Son, Invercharron, Ardgay, realising £1,350. The continental reserve was a 455kg Limousin cross bullock from Mr D. Dalgetty, Cabrich, Kirkhill, realising £1,210. In the Aberdeen Angus section, the champion prize went to a 480kg bullock from Messrs E. L. M. Laing, Wester Fearn, Ardgay, realising £1,080, and the reserve to a 470kg bullock also from Wester Fearn, realising £1,000.

Continental bullocks (166) averaged 240.3p and sold to 386.7p per kg for a 300kg Limousin cross from Dunmaglass Estate, Dores, and £1,350 gross for the 550kg continental champion from Invercharron, Ardgay.
Continental heifers (157) averaged 219.2p and sold to 263.4p per kg for a 205kg Charolais cross from Bogburn, Duncanston, and £1,240 gross for a 630kg Simmental cross from Dalreoich Farm, Strathrusdale.
Aberdeen Angus and native bred bullocks (70) averaged 222.5pand sold to 267.7p per kg for a 254kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Armadale Farm, Sleat, and £1,320 gross for a 685kg Aberdeen Angus from Wester Fearn, Ardgay.
Aberdeen Angus and native bred heifers (25) averaged 204p and sold to 235.1p per kg for 302kg Luing crosses from Croft of Clune, Newtonmore, and £1,030 gross for 505kg Aberdeen Angus from Cragganvallie, Abriachan.

OTM clean heifers (3) averaged 145p and sold to 195.6p per kg and £1,330 gross for a 680kg Aberdeen Angus from 3 Glen, Dunvegan.
OTM bulls (2) sold to 86p per kg and £750 gross fro a 830kg Beef Shorthorn from Torachilty, Contin.
