ROCK ROSE GIN FROM CAITHNESS TAKES THE UK BY STORM

Rock Rose Gin, a Scottish craft gin that hails from the most Northerly distillery in mainland Britain, is making waves in the drinks industry, gaining a plethora of awards in the UK and beyond. The gin, which is hand-distilled at the Dunnet Bay Distillery in Caithness, features botanicals that are hand foraged from local cliffs and forests to create a gin with a unique flavour profile.
The exceptional taste of the gin, which is flavourful and fresh, zesty but berryful, has just been recognised with a Bronze medal at the world-renowned San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the largest and most influential spirits competition in America. Whilst the beautiful bottle was named Best New Launch Design at the World Gin Awards 2015, as judged by a panel of leading international design experts. Most recently, Rock Rose Gin has been selected as a drinks finalist in the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards, with the results to be announced later this month.
The gin features a collection of local and traditional botanicals, each one meticulously chosen to create the perfect taste. In fact, its name comes from one of these botanicals, the Rhodiola rosea (a rose in the rocks), which was discovered on the distillery's first botanical forage along the Caithness cliffs and which adds a delicate floral note to the gin.
Also featuring Juniper Berries, Rowan Berries and Sea Buckthorn, Rock Rose Gin is carefully and slowly distilled by hand at the Dunnet Bay Distillery by husband and wife team, Martin and Claire, whose goal is to create a spirit, which showcases the heritage and provenance of Caithness. With the first batches selling-out pre-release, now is the first time gin-lovers across the country have the chance to get their hands on their award-winning tipple.

Dunnet Bay Distillers, the UK's most northerly mainland distillery, has secured its first nationwide supermarket listing, with its acclaimed Rock Rose Gin launching into 135 Sainsbury's stores this July. The launch is the latest in a series of exciting developments for the craft distillery, which has significantly expanded to keep up with growing demand.
Unique Caithness collaboration will delight both archaeology and gin enthusiasts. Archaeology and craft gin may seem like worlds apart, but two entrepreneurial companies from the far north of Scotland have teamed up to create a special craft gin, inspired by the prehistoric landscape of Caithness.
The launch of Broch Rose gin is on Wednesday 20th evening at the distillery tasting room of Dunnet Bat Distillery. Tickets are £20 including a Rock Rose G&T, canapes, tutored tasting of Broch Rose gin and to finish a Broch Rose G&T.
A Caithness distillery has embarked on a major expansion that will boost its turnover and international sales and create at least one new job. Dunnet Bay Distillery (DBDL) has secured a £64,000 contribution from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) towards the £248,000 development.
On 7th October, Dunnet Bay Distillery, the UK's most northerly mainland distillery will launch its third seasonal release. As with each limited edition in the range, the Autumn Edition features the same base botanicals as the multi award-winning Rock Rose Gin but with some seasonal variations.
Hand-crafted in the far North of Scotland, Holy Grass Vodka, is the latest release from the multi-award winning Dunnet Bay Distillery in Caithness. It features the unusual botanical Holy Grass (or Anthoxanthum nitens ), once discovered on the banks of the nearby Thurso River by Robert Dick.
New Business Award 2015 Winner: Dunnet Bay Distillers Seventeen businesses across the Highlands, islands and Cairngorms National Park area are celebrating wins from the area's most prestigious food and drink awards. The awards recognise excellence across a range of businesses from artisan producers and large-scale food exporters to restaurants and farm shops.
Today, Friday 31st July 2015, The Duke of Rothesay took a tour of Dunnet Bay Distillery, the thriving Caithness distillery, where husband and wife team, Martin and Claire Murray, handcraft Rock Rose Gin. This acclaimed gin features botanicals that are hand foraged from local cliffs and forests to create a gin with a unique and award-winning flavour profile.
Thirty-eight businesses across the Highlands, islands and Cairngorms National Park area have been shortlisted for the area's most prestigious food and drink awards. Finalists ranged from new businesses to established producers; family-run restaurants to Michelin-starred establishments and demonstrated the strength and diversity of food and drink businesses across the region.
Work has now finished at the most northerly gin distillery on mainland Britain with the final piece of equipment - a new still called ‘Elizabeth' – installed in the new custom-built distillery at Dunnet, Caithness. Husband and wife team Martin and Claire Murray, the founders of Dunnet Bay Distillers have distilled and tested the first batches of Rock Rose gin and full production will be under way in time for the launch of the new micro distillery on the 21 August.
