Hundreds of potholes have been repaired in the first 6 months of this year. 1,437 potholes were repaired between January and June 2015.
A record number of reports of potholes were received following recent Council campaigns to encourage reporting of potholes both online and to the service centre. Members of the public have been encouraged to report potholes using a new online reporting tool on the council website www.highland.gov.uk/report
2,538 reports were logged during these months compared with 915 in previous months.
Community Services also reported that the average time to complete emergency repairs in houses has significantly reduced from around 14 hours in 2013/14 to around 4 to 6 hours in the first quarter of 2015/16.
Chair of Community Services Committee, Cllr Allan Henderson said:"The campaign to encourage members of the public to report potholes and other problems online has been very successful, as demonstrated by the large increase in the number of reports received. This is very helpful as it helps our community services staff to quickly identify and prioritise the problem areas and target resources at urgent repairs."
He added: “It is also very encouraging to see that the time taken to complete emergency repairs has been significantly reduced and staff are to be congratulated for this achievement.”
