DINGWALL, Dingwall andHighland Marts Ltd., (March, 30th) sold 1,006 store cattle.
Bullocks (641) averaged 220.7p and sold to 280.5p per kg for a pen of 246kg Charolais crosses from Greenvale, Dunnet, and £1,310 gross for the overall champion, a 585kg Charolais cross from The Cloy, Fortrose.
Heifers (363) averaged 215.4p and sold to 385.5p per kg and £1,600 gross for a 415kg Shorthorn cross from 37 Bernisdale.
Young bulls (2) sold to 193.2p per kg and £705 gross for a 365kg Limousin cross from Market Stance, Fort Augustus.
The Robertson's of Tain & Harbro sponsored show and sale of store cattle judged by C MacIver, Easter Strath of Auchterflow, Killen, awarded his overall champion to a 585kg Charolais cross bullock from Messrs J H & S M Anderson, The Cloy, Fortrose, realising £1,310 gross to the judge. Reserve champion was a 460kg British Blue cross heifer from Messrs J. M. Fraser & Son, Easter Clune, Lethen, realising £1,100 gross to Backmuir Livestock Ltd, Keith.
