Aberdeen and Northern Marts At Quoybrae - Ram Sale 20 October 2007

QUOYBRAE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (October 20th) sold 104 Texel, Suffolk
and Border Leicester rams and ram lambs under the auspices of the Caithness
Sheep Breeders Association

Champion Texel a shearling by Stockhill Kasper from R MacKay, Clyth Mains,
Lybster sold for £620 to J Munro, Pitkerrie, Fearn.

Reserve was a ram lamb by Miller's Miles from C and I Angus, Oldfield Farm,
Thurso and sold for £350 to A Webster, Lower Reiss Farm, Wick.

Champion Suffolk a shearling from B Swanson, East Murkle, Thurso sold for
£500 to the judge J Brims, Thuster Mains, Wick.

Reserve was a ram lamb from J Simpson, Pentland View, Barrock and sold for
£500 to Messrs Sutherland, Stainland and Sibmister Farms.

Only entry in the Border Leicester section was a shearling from B Swanson,
East Murkle and sold for £100 to A and C Cormack, Mid-Keiss, Wick.

Leading prices and averages

Texel - Top price was £720 for a shearling by Knock Longbow from W and M
Miller, Aimster to J Munro, Pitkerrie to average £433.84 for 13 (£246.25 for
8 last year)

Ha' of Bowermadden sold to £700 for a shearling to average £422 for 5 (£200
for 6)

Oldfield sold to £650 for a shearling to average £382 for 10 (£317.69 for
13)

Clyth Mains sold to £520 twice for shearlings to average £460 for 4 (£612.50
for 4)

Bardnaclavan sold to £500 for a shearling to average £360 for 2 (£156.66 for
3)

42 shearlings averaged £375.95 against £263.50 for 40 last year.

11 ram lambs averaged £182.72 (£200 for 2)

1 aged ram £60 (£500 for 1)

Suffolk - Top price was £650 for a ram lamb by Slackadale Suprano from J
Simpson to W Barnetson and Son, Lynegar, Watten to average £344 for 5
(£255.71 for 7)

Skaill sold to £420 for a shearling to average £328.75 for 8 (£325 for 4)

Bardnaclavan sold to £420 for a shearling to average £271.33 for 15 (£343.33
for 9)
